Venice

Having gone in search of her, she has followed me to Venice. On the 13th of the month she slid this doctored photo-postcard under my door at the Pensione San Bernardino. She signed it with the assumed name of Lucieta Williams. That signature, beneath the word, 'straniero', crossed out and replaced by another: `intruso', had been hastily written, if I am not mistaken, in viridian green  Rohrer & Klinger ink and, unmistakably, with her favourite Montegrappa Ducale Murano fountain pen. From her pursuer, I have become her prey, yet again.
