Orientalism

Bathed in the golden evening sunlight sits a Japanese man, motionless. Like a portly middle-aged buddha. A picture of Oriental spirituality to my Western eyes, until his wife appears from behind a tree from where, with imposing lens, she had been photographing him against the glowing backdrop of York Minster, towering above the scene.
