One Flight Up

Next time you walk down the increasingly uniform streets of any of our cities look up. There, the upper floors of banks, international chain-stores, and hipster coffee bars, as well as the abandoned buildings in-between, have only been grazed by the onward rush of global capital and gentrification below. Even above the dereliction of post-industrial abandonment the flaking ghosts of past glories cling to the sides of gutted cinemas and music halls. Battered and bruised, the flotsam and jetsam of time persist one flight up, presenting an alternative to shopping and the space to dream.
